Our League President, Alex Chavez has been selected for The City of West Covina's Wall Of Fame. Candidates are selected based on years of Community Service to the City and also in representing the City of West Covina Regionally and Nationally via events (such as Tournaments). Based on the information available, some of this year's other elects are Cory Lidle, Jason Giambi, Geremy Giambi, Shawn Wooten, Coach Gano and Richard Bletcher. Alex has been part of our League for over 15 years, organizing successful tournaments and events while managing/coaching teams from Shetland through Pony Division and contributing to running such a successful baseball league. The ceremony in his honor will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 10am at Big League Dreams. We invite everyone associated and affiliated with the WCYPB Family to be there on that day to share this experience.

It is with great sorrow to report that we lost one of our own. Mr. Tom Jacobo passed away. He and his family were in a car accident. Tom was the Manager for the Mustang Phillies. Many of you know him as our Opening Day DJ. Tom will be remembered by many as a good friend and a good coach. Some of his family members are still in the hospital and in critical condition. Please keep them in mind and in your prayers.

Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stands all alone,
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball nears the plate, he swings and he misses,
There’s a groan from the crowd,
with some boos and some hisses.
The thoughtless voice cries, “Strike out the bum.”
Tears fill his eyes, the game’s no longer fun,
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it’s moments like this, a man you can make.
Keep this in mind when you hear someone forget,
He’s just a little boy, and not a man yet.
